Initial Author Instructions

Author Registration

  • Each paper must be covered by a full IEEE member or Non-Member registration fee.
  • Student Registration and Daily Registration fees do not cover paper publication.
  • Each full registration fee can cover up to 2 papers.
  • You must be listed as an author on a paper for the registration fee to cover the said paper.
  • Each full IEEE member or Non-Member registrant may represent no more than 2 papers.

Submission and Paper Specification Information

The organizing committee of IEEE FLEPS 2024 invites authors to submit papers for presentation during the Conference in Tampere, Finland. Submitting authors can choose between two submission routes, resulting in a different publication outlet, if the paper is accepted:

OPTION A: Regular Conference Submission route leading to presentation of accepted papers during the conference and publication in the IEEE FLEPS Conference Proceedings, or

OPTION B: Journal Submission route for publication of accepted papers in IEEE Sensors Letters and presentation during the conference.

Whilst authors can choose any of the routes, it is recommended to consider OPTION B of the quality of paper is sufficient for journal publication. For either option, the deadline for submission remains the same as posted on the IEEE FLEPS website/Call for Papers (March 15, 2024). Any extension for conference paper submission deadline will not affect the deadline for submission of papers via OPTION B (Sensors Letters Deadline of March 4 will NOT be extended). In either case, we expect to make the final decisions by the paper outcome date announced on conference website. Please note that authors should submit the 3 – 4-page paper to either OPTION A or OPTION B. Submission of same paper to both OPTION A and OPTION B could violate the IEEE’s self-plagiarism policy. Below are details of either option to aid decision and plan appropriate action.

The flow chart and text below show various steps related to the two submission routes:

OPTION A: Publication in the Proceedings of the IEEE FLEPS Conference:

  • ALL submissions must be made online via the following link: https://epapers2.org/fleps2024
  • Email submissions will NOT be accepted.
  • If you are making multiple submissions, you only need to create one web account. Use the same account (User name & Password) for any additional submissions.
  • If you need to resubmit your paper, it may be done up until the submission deadline.
  • Author information may not be changed after the initial paper submission paper passes
  • The submission will be reviewed by the conference Technical Program Committee (TPC) and decisions made through the regular conference peer review process.

Paper Specifications

Use our conference paper template (OPTION A) to meet formatting requirements below. Your paper must comply with the following specifications:

  • Paper Length: 4 pages (max) – 3 pages of text (max) + 1 page of references (max)
  • Paper Size: US Letter (8.5″ x 11″)
  • Fonts: Embed ALL fonts in your PDF file. Avoid the use of Type 3 fonts.
  • File Format: Adobe PDF (.pdf)
  • Allowed File Size: 2.0Mb
  • Do NOT page number your paper
  • Do NOT apply security settings to your PDF file

Note: Deviations from the above paper specifications will result in rejection of your submission.

OPTION B: Publication in IEEE Sensors Letters:

Authors whose papers are already of journal quality and are focused specifically on the topic of sensors, sensor systems, sensor interfaces, sensor applications, sensor materials and manufacturing processes within the context of flexible electronics and sensors may consider submitting such work directly to IEEE Sensors Letters journal. The authors submitting papers to IEEE Sensors Letters for presentation during IEEE FLEPS 2024 should ensure their work is within the scope of both. TPCs of conference may not allow presentation during IEEE FLEPS 2024, if a paper is accepted for publication in IEEE Sensors Letters, but is found to be out of scope of the conference (see flow chart). When submitting such papers, please use the following link and use the following template of IEEE Sensors Letters journal. During the submission, please choose “IEEE FLEPS” as the article type from the dropdown list and also indicate in your cover letter the conference track to which the paper belongs. This will allow us to rapidly identify these special papers and quickly activate the regular peer review process for IEEE Sensors Letters so that it will be completed in time for the decisions on the final program. Papers that are submitted to IEEE Sensors Letters, but not selecting ‘IEEE FLEPS’ option, will not be considered for the Conference and will likely be reviewed and published (if accepted) through the normal journal review process. Authors of papers accepted for publication in IEEE Sensors Letters as well as presentation during IEEE FLEPS 2024 will be required to provide the title of paper, author affiliations and DOI (if available) via conference submission site. Further information will be shared with such authors after acceptance of their IEEE Sensors Letters papers.

If authors opt for OPTION B, and their paper is rejected by IEEE Sensors Letters, they may consider submitting the revised version of their papers to IEEE FLEPS following the instruction above for OPTION A. Such papers MUST address all reviewers comments from IEEE Sensors Letter review and include in submission package their response to reviewers comments. The deadline for submission of such papers will be set to a date after the initial program decision deadline. If the quality of such papers is acceptable by the conference TPC, then they will be included in the IEEE FLEPS conference program (as is the case for OPTION A). The type of presentation (i.e. oral or poster) will be at discretion of TPC co-chairs.

Note: Conference organizers and the journal editorial board are not responsible for author oversight.
